Vorsite Announces Enterprise Toolkit for Documentum Upgrade

Seattle, WA — October 19, 2006

Vorsite Corporation, the recognized leader in connecting Microsoft SharePoint as a front-end to Enterprise Content Management systems, announced the release of version 2.7 of the company’s flagship product set, the Enterprise Toolkit for Documentum. This latest release of the Enterprise Toolkit for Documentum contains a number of key enhancements designed to expose more of the power and functionalities of the EMC2|Documentum ECM platform to information workers operating within the Microsoft® SharePoint® work environment.

For years, organizations of all types have struggled trying to create a seamless integration of their working environments with enterprise-level content management capabilities such as content classification, retention and security. With the Vorsite Toolkit for Documentum, users are able to access the Documentum platform natively from within Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and the Microsoft Office system. This enables them to leverage the power of the Documentum platform in areas such as advanced records management, business process management, imaging and rich media from their preferred Microsoft applications.

In comments at the release, Aaron Nettles, CEO of Vorsite said, “Over the past 18 months, we have been working tirelessly with our partners, Microsoft and Documentum, in collaboration with some of our key clients in an effort to create the type of seamless user experience that they want and need. With the release of version 2.7, we are not only improving existing upon existing process but we are also introducing some additional innovations that expose even more of the Documentum ECM platform functionalities to SharePoint users. Now those users will be able to take advantage of even more of the ECM Documentum technologies without having to leave their familiar Microsoft SharePoint work environment.”

Rano Joshi, Vice President of Products and Services at Vorsite explained that, “By expanding upon the rich integration between Documentum and the Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies that we have already been able to achieve, we are offering customers more choice and control over the management of their business information.”

Building upon the existing strengths of the core components that make up the Vorsite Toolkit for Documentum — Transfer Agent, Web Parts and Protocol Hander — version 2.7 will allow users to experience more reliability, an even higher level of security and a seamless work environment. The highlights of these enhancements include:

Transfer Agent

This component of the Vorsite Enterprise Toolkit for Documentum integrates SharePoint Document Libraries to Documentum cabinets and folders. It extends the ability of a company to enforce its compliance and records retention policies – which have been implemented in Documentum – to SharePoint.

This latest release provides support for SharePoint Server farms and load balanced networks. This significantly improves the scalability and availability of SharePoint to support the growing needs of the enterprise.

In addition, users can now enable document libraries using the new transfer agent, configuring web parts while preserving administrator’s rights to set global or site-level transfer policies through the SharePoint Server Administration page. With the ease and power of the Administrative Tool, policy changes can be done in seconds and they take effect immediately. In short, this makes records compliance enforcement on SharePoint simple and easy.

This upgrade of Transfer Agent creates an even tighter integration between SharePoint and Documentum than was possible before:

•tAdministrators can now configure policy to move documents to Documentum and in addition specify whether a link to the document should be provided in the SharePoint Document library or not depending on your compliance policy.

•tUsers can configure and modify transfer agent settings for document libraries.

•tSite administration can easily swap between auto-transfer and to manual transfer of documents.

•tAutomatic synchronization between SharePoint and Documentum now allow users in SharePoint to seamlessly “check out” and “check in” documents residing in Documentum while in the SharePoint environment.

Web Parts

This component of the Toolkit simplifies the access and use of existing Documentum functionality through a standard web browser, allowing users to interact with the Documentum Repository using the familiar and more user-friendly SharePoint environment. There have been five major improvements to this component:

•tValue Assistance – It is now easier to edit the metadata of a document. This new feature significantly reduces data entry error since users can upload and edit files with metadata pre-populated with the controlled lists of values configured in Documentum.

•tColumn Sort and Configure – End users are now able to sort content by columns and configure the columns they wish to see in their content browser. This means that they will be able to locate information faster and consume only information they need and that is relevant to their work.

•tMultiple file Upload – This upgrade of Web Parts also includes the ability to upload multiple files to Documentum. With this feature, end users save time and effort by uploading files sharing the same properties with a single click.

•tTrue Subscribe/Unsubscribe – Under the previous release, Web Parts simply rendered a list of documents that the end user subscribed to, forcing them to leave SharePoint in order to manage their subscriptions. End users are now able to subscribe and unsubscribe to the content in Documentum directly from SharePoint.

•tQuick Search – Armed with this web part, users can now search the contents of the Documentum Repository from SharePoint even if they do not have SharePoint Portal Server.

Protocol Handler

This component of the Vorsite Enterprise toolkit for Documentum extends the capability of SharePoint Portal Server Search to include the indexing of Documentum Repositories. There have been two significant enhancements to Protocol Handler. On the overall performance side, there is a set limit on the number of connections allowable to Documentum. Previously, this proved to be problematic since there was not a way to set, or limit the number of connections utilized by Protocol Handler. This has meant that occasionally, connections to Documentum by other applications were blocked.

This enhancement allows users to configure the number of connections that Protocol Hander uses, meaning that Protocol Handler will only use the number of connections it needs, increasing the availability of connections to Documentum by other business critical applications.

One other feature addition is in the ability to set Content Source Level Configuration instead of simply having one global configuration. This means that users can set their configuration up for each content source rather than being forced into a “one size fits all” global configuration.

With this version upgrade, The Vorsite Toolkit for Documentum sets itself apart as the singular leader in connecting SharePoint and Documentum to create a powerful option for those organizations seeking to establish seamless integration as the final piece in their Enterprise Content Integration puzzle.

“Using SharePoint as a front-end to ECM allows quick and easy access to documents and records while preserving security and data integrity so critical in today’s competitive and highly regulated business environment.” said Vorsite CEO Aaron Nettles. “Version 2.7 further demonstrates our leadership in connecting SharePoint users to the EMC2|Documentum ECM platform. We are committed to helping customers get the most out of their ECM investment.”

A New Performance Tuning Service For EMC Documentum Systems

High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire — May 27, 2006

AGAMBS, one of the world’s leading EMC Documentum consultancies, has launched a new performance tuning service. It will enable content management systems to run more efficiently, handle more users and deal with higher volumes of information.

This service will enable organisations to restore the performance and throughput of their Documentum systems and mitigate against changes in usage and the increasing volume of data that is being stored. It will deliver rapid and consistent response times and eliminate the time outs that plague users of busy document management systems when carrying out document searches and retrievals.

AGAMBS’ new performance tuning service will be of particular interest to organisations using Documentum systems that appear to be running at full capacity and are considering expanding their existing hardware. By freeing up latent capacity, it can enable organisations to postpone investing in new equipment and maximise the ROI from their existing system.

According to Andrew McCabe, Managing Director of AGAMBS: “Whether there are 100 or 1,000 users, access to documents should take the same amount of time if the system is correctly sized and tuned. Our experience shows that we can reduce the time it takes to search and retrieve documents to just 10-15% of what it was taking prior to tuning up the system. Giving faster access to documents will deliver significant productivity improvements across the organisation.”

This view is supported by Reuters who commented: “AGAMBS enabled us to achieve a ten fold increase in the number of transactions we were able to process every minute. This increased throughput enabled us to achieve faster delivery of news to journalists and downstream systems.”

To identify performance bottlenecks, AGAMBS analyses the database, Documentum settings, network performance, application servers, UNIX and Windows configuration. A detailed report is then prepared on the findings and recommendations for performance tuning are supplied. A normal investigation and recommendation phase usually takes up to five days depending on the nature of the system and the problems associated with it. The report also highlights any areas requiring additional follow-up work such as potential code changes and suboptimal queries.

AGAMBS also provides range of specialised services that will enable organisations to maximise their investment in Documentum systems. It is one of the few European consultancies with the expertise to provide Documentum Load Test Scripting services. Using specifically designed tools, script-testing scenarios can be run that accurately mimic the projected usage patterns and volumes of your specific applications. This ensures that applications run efficiently without introducing locking or blocking at the database level.

About AGAMBS

AGAMBS is one of the world’s leading independent consultancies specialising in helping organisations to better leverage their investment in EMC Documentum software. The company specialises in putting information at the fingertips of users in the shortest possible time through optimising the performance of enterprise content management systems. Armedia SCM (Source Code Management) Software For EMC Documentum Began Initial Shipment December 9, 2005

Atlanta, GA — December 14, 2005

A new product — Armedia SCM — emerges in the source code management software industry. The ‘Designed for Documentum’ product was released on December 9th, and is available for purchase by e-mailing scmsales @ armedia.com.

According to Todd Lankford, VP Delivery, Armedia, “An interesting statistic from the survey we conducted at Momentum Las Vegas indicated that more than one-third of companies surveyed use two or more source code management products. This fact confirms Armedia’s belief that many organizations can reduce redundant costs around infrastructure, support, and training if they consolidate their source code into a unified enterprise platform.”

The vision behind Armedia SCM emerged from our experience from working with clients on EMC Documentum initiatives where we noticed that 1) most companies have no centralized repository for source code, 2) source code is stored in a separate repository from enterprise content, and 3) content and source code are typically released together for web publishing initiatives. We began asking ourselves, “Is source code content?” We knew it should be treated as such, but EMC Documentum products did not provide the rich functionality developers had come to expect in source code management tools.

Lankford continues “Armedia recognized a unique opportunity to leverage the power of EMC Documentum to effectively manage source code in the same repository as other enterprise content. We realized that if source code and content were together, redundant tools, processes, and operations could be removed and the build and deployment process for web publishing could be streamlined.”

With the introduction of Armedia SCM, the beneficial choice for companies using Documentum is Armedia SCM because:

It’s familiar – Designed for Documentum Webtop™ 5.3 user interface

    It’s compatible – Built upon Webtop™ version 5.3

It’s robust – Utilizes EMC Documentum platform

It’s enterprise wide – A solution for global requirements
